In an Emirati home, the dallah is the first thing a guest sees and the last thing they forget. A good vacuum flask keeps Arabic coffee (gahwa) or tea hot from the morning until the last visitor leaves the majlis. At Souk Al Ras we sell more than 240 dallahs and flasks, from small 350ml flasks to full majlis sets, and our customers ask us the same questions every day. This guide answers them, so you choose the right dallah the first time.
Quick answer
- Heat: most quality dallahs keep coffee and tea hot for up to around 12 hours.
- Inner: pink glass is the most popular choice in the UAE. There are also full stainless steel models for heavy daily use.
- Size: 1L of Arabic coffee serves about 5–8 guests. Tea needs at least 1.5–2L. Larger gatherings need 1.5L–2L flasks or a set of 4.
- Top: choose push-button for one-hand pouring, or a twist top that you loosen to pour.
- Quality: look for original brands, a warranty (many of ours carry 3 years) and UAE quality certification (ESMA).
1. How long does a dallah keep coffee hot?
A dallah (vacuum flask) keeps drinks hot with a double wall separated by a vacuum, which blocks most heat loss. Most of the dallahs we sell are rated to keep drinks hot for up to around 12 hours.
To get the full 12 hours:
- Pre-heat it. Fill it with hot water for 5 minutes, empty it, then pour in your coffee or tea.
- Fill it close to full. Less air inside means less heat lost.
- Close the top firmly and pour only when needed.
2. Pink glass, clear glass or stainless steel inside?
The inside of the flask (the refill) is either glass or stainless steel.
- Pink glass: found in more than 95% of the flasks we sell, and the clear favourite of our customers. They see it as the higher grade: it keeps heat very well, looks clean, shows no weld marks, and glass does not hold the taste or smell of the previous drink.
- Clear or white glass: the same glass-refill principle, in a different colour.
- Full stainless steel (inside and out): more resistant to knocks and drops, so a good choice for camping, the office, or homes with children. It needs a little more cleaning, as coffee and tea can stain steel over time.
Tip: A glass inner is strong in normal use but can crack if the flask is dropped hard. Handle it with care, and use a carry bag when you take it out of the house.
3. Push-button or twist top?
There are two ways to pour, and the product title usually tells you which one a dallah has:
- Push-button: press and pour with one hand. Ideal when you serve guests one cup after another in the majlis.
- Twist top: loosen the top a little to pour, then tighten it again. Simple, with fewer moving parts.
4. What size dallah do I need?
| Size | Best for |
|---|---|
| 0.35L – 0.6L | Personal use, or a small flask for herbal tea such as chamomile at bedtime |
| 0.7L – 1L | Arabic coffee for a family or 5–8 guests in the majlis |
| 1.3L – 2L | Tea (at least 1.5–2L), or coffee for larger gatherings |
| 3L and above | Big gatherings, Ramadan, offices, events (see large flasks & water jugs) |
Arabic coffee is served in small finjan cups, so 1L goes a long way. Tea is served in larger istikana glasses and needs more volume.
Use two flasks: one for coffee and one for tea. This keeps the flavour of each drink clean. That is why many of our sets come as pairs, such as 1L + 0.7L or 1L + 1L.
5. Single dallah or dallah set?
- Single dallahs & flasks: to replace one flask, add a size, or for personal and office use.
- Dallah sets of 2, 3 or 4: the best value for a home that hosts often. A set of 4 usually includes a large majlis size (for example 1L, 1.3L, 1.6L and 1.9L), so you have the right flask for coffee, tea, milk and hot water.
- Complete hospitality sets: dallahs together with Arabic coffee cups, tea glasses and trays, ready for the majlis, Ramadan and Eid.
Many of our premium dallah sets are made by one of the world's best dallah factories, and sold under well-known brands.
6. What to check before you buy
- Original brand. We only sell original, internationally known brands such as Legend, Venice, AVCI, Najib and Al Fursan. No copies.
- Warranty. Many of our dallahs carry a 3-year warranty, so check the title.
- UAE certification. Look for ESMA (Emirates Quality) certification on the product.
- Heat rating. Up to around 12 hours is the standard to expect from a good vacuum flask.
- Design. Match the flask to your majlis: gold or silver handles, palm and heritage designs, mosaic, plain colours, or UAE-flag sets for National Day.
7. Taking your dallah out: camping and office
For desert trips, camping or the office, a dallah carry bag protects the flask and keeps it upright. Full stainless steel flasks are the toughest choice for outdoor use. See also our camping & outdoor range.
8. Care tips to make your dallah last
- Rinse it with warm water after each use and leave it open to dry.
- To remove coffee or tea stains, fill it with warm water and a spoon of baking soda, leave it for an hour, then rinse.
- Do not put a vacuum flask in the dishwasher or soak the outer body.
- Avoid pouring boiling liquid straight into a very cold flask. Pre-heat it first.
- Never shake a closed flask with hot liquid inside.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a dallah keep coffee hot?
Most quality vacuum dallahs keep coffee and tea hot for up to around 12 hours. Pre-heat it with hot water and fill it close to full for the best result.
Is a pink glass flask better?
Pink glass is the most popular choice in the UAE. Customers prefer it because it keeps heat very well, looks clean with no visible weld marks, and glass does not hold the taste or smell of the previous drink.
What size dallah do I need for guests?
1L of Arabic coffee serves about 5–8 guests in a majlis. For tea, choose at least 1.5–2L. For larger gatherings, choose 1.5L–2L flasks or a set of 4.
What is the difference between a push-button and a twist dallah?
A push-button dallah pours with one hand when you press the top. A twist dallah pours when you loosen the top slightly. Both keep drinks hot equally well.
Should I use the same dallah for coffee and tea?
It is better to use one flask for coffee and one for tea, to keep each drink's flavour clean. Many dallah sets come as pairs for this reason.
Do your dallahs have a warranty?
Many of our dallahs carry a 3-year warranty and ESMA (Emirates Quality) certification. Check the product title for details.
Do you deliver dallahs across the UAE?
Yes. We deliver to all emirates in 1–2 working days, with same-day delivery available in Dubai and Sharjah for orders placed before 2 PM (arranged with our team on WhatsApp).
